Sound Mind Travel Blog Relaunch + Competition!

Sound Mind Travel holds a rose to her cheek with hair swept to one side and smiling.

Hello and welcome! It is Friday 9th October and officially my newly revamped Sound Mind Travel website day. I hope you enjoy perusing the drastically new site; we have made TONS of changes and it looks astronomically better.

It is more interactive with plenty of things to click on, as well as relevant sections for my themes of travel, well-being and a new one…money making.

New section on Making Money

I have been passionate about finding new and curious ways to make extra money and go against the grain for a while now and, after leaving normal, full-time work a few years ago to focus on looking for self-employed jobs, I managed to find enough to build myself a full-time wage.

I am very proud of this achievement and would now like to divulge my findings and pass on any ‘wisdom’ I feel that I have picked up along the way. So, do feel free to peruse my money making section where you will find several articles dealing with this.

Focusing more on Unusual Places

For my travel section, I now officially deal very heavily with places that could be considered unusual or off the beaten track – I have aways been passionate about things that go against the grain and I feel that it is good to have a website that you can come to to read about all these kinds of places to get some inspiration for yourself as to which places to visit that perhaps not everyone would choose or even know about.

Completely new style of home page

The website looks SO much better on a destop computer or laptop but I know that most people now look on their phones so if you do so, don’t forget to click on the dropdown menus and see what you can find! When you came to the homepage before this revamp, it just took you straight to the list of articles I had written in a long list but now, the home page is a page all of its own with a popular posts section with a designated block for each of the three categories, Off the beaten track travel, money making and well-being.

Designed At Home

I researched a few ideas of other blogs to think about what I might want for mine and, one day in July, I sat with a few huge sheets of paper and a chubby marker pen and drew some rough diagrams of what I envisioned for my blog. Convinced that I would have to pay someone to create this for me and make my blog dreams come true, I buckled up and braced myself.

But, alas, I seemingly have the most talented partner ever. Here is a man that hates IT – he is by no means a technophobe and does appreciate and uses modern day technology daily. However, he doesn’t particularly like website designing or spending much time fixing or exploring computers -so it is unfortunate for him that he is an absolute genius when it comes to these things. I always say to him that he could make good money working in IT but he just doesn’t want to, it isn’t what he is passionate about.

But, for a future reward from me, he agreed to take charge and design my site for me. So, everything you see on here that is different is all envisioned by me but implemented by him.

I am so grateful to him for working with me on this to help me get a website that I love!

I am really pleased with how quickly all this has come about – lockdown has helped us to work quicker with being at home more. As we all know, the pandemic and subsequent lockdown have brought both good and bad scenarios to different people’s homes. In our case, it gave us the chance to find more time to work on projects and many families the chance to spend some extra time together but I am aware that many people have lost jobs, relatives and their sense of normality due to this crisis. My heart goes out to them every day and I wish for future hope, health and happiness to those that need it the most.

So, thank you for reading and being a part of Sound Mind Travel, it means the world to me because I love having this blog and sharing things that might hopefully benefit others in some way and keep me happy by sharing snapshots of my life to the virtual world out there.

Let me know what you think, I would love to know!

Lots of love,

SMT xx
